Q.I have a 2001 Civic 1.4i SE auto. The engine management light came on as well as the alternator non-charging light. Roadside repair replaced fuse #15, all was well except e/m light still on. Taken to local garage, codes reset, all o. k. Car ran for 2/3000 miles then a repeat. To Honda dealer who replaced the alternator, and the engine wiring harness (v. expensive!). All o. k. for another period, then a repeat. I replaced fuse this time, and proved the problem was not the alternator! Where are the best places to look next, please?

Answer Check the engine harness that goes under the intake manifold. It's common for the wiring harness to rub through the intake manifold or intake manifold bracket under the intake manifold. You'll have to get under the car with a flashlight or a mirror and flashlight to see the harness. Usually it pops the fuse and makes the battery light come on when this happens.
