Prelude idling problem
Car: Honda, Prelude, 1989, 1958cc Carb - Back to Fix-It - Honda Prelude Repair Manuals
Q.Have a 89 Prelude with 1958cc (2.0S model) with Carb. The idle races to 2500 or more and does want to shut down. Had a #6 in memory, replaced the coolant temp sensor, no more codes but still races. Need a diagnostic tree or chart we can trace down. Thanks.
I already checked/done: Scanned ECU, found #6, replaced coolant temp sensor. Vehicle had idle racing when it came in, still doing same.
Throttle does appear to be stuck, if this (being carbure ted) has the fast idle valve we would appreciate a component location.
More Info required This engine requires a flow of coolant to a thermovalve near the carbs.
Since you had a temp sensor code, is the coolant level low or is there an air pocket?
