I have been unable to open my trunk for about eight months now. I've tried the key button,..

I just went and took off the interior trunk lid covering (the carpet stuff) and released it by hand. I then closed the trunk to see if that fixed the problem and it didn't. Do I need a new relase mechanism? A new fuse?
