timing belt and water pump
Car: Volkswagen, Passat, 2005 - Back to Fix-It - Volkswagen Repair Manuals
Q.Timing belt alignment, water pump and cv axle boot replacement.
I already checked/done: I tried to get a book at the parts store on timing alignment. Also, I can't get CV axle bolts loose.
Answer You will need 2 special tools to do this job a crank pin and a cam pin to lock inn the cam sprocket with out the tools its difficult to do because the timing will be off if not done right and could possibly do damage to the engine.
Here is a picture to help you out and show you where the mark is at and how the tools are placed when the engine is in time.
Now the issue with the cv axle bolts you will also need a bigged size allen socket to remove the center axle bolt and you will need triple square sockets to remove the bolts that hold the axle to the flange on the transmission .
