My Accord needs driver side upper ball joint replacement

Q.My 1999 Accord Ex 4dr. 4cyl, needs driver side upper ball joint replacement.
Honda Dealer says that the upper ball joint cannot be replaced by itself & must also replace upper control arm to work properly. Unaffiliated shop quoted job at over $200.00 below dealer's price--is what dealership says true?

Answer Yes its part of the upper control arm and not separate. The dealer is correct. The part at any auto parts store is about 100 dollars and easily installed no more then an hours labor.
