To get my car in gear I have to rev it up a bit.

Q.Just bought used 94 accord lx and the automatic transmission now will not work in 1-4th gears and to get it to go in reverse you have to rev it up a bit. The fluids were topped off before I bought it. So I don't know if it is something simple or serious. I want to modify it and put the H22a from a Prelude in it, but can't afford right now. Please advise. Thanks, New to Honda.

More Info required Ok is the check engine light on?
