Car: Honda, 1991     -    Back to Fix-It    -    Honda Repair Manuals

Q.i tore my motor apart and didnt keep the conecting rods in order or caps i see difernt marks on the caps and the nombers on the side of rods and caps ther are 3 3 and1 2 what can i do.

Answer You may be able to match the numbers on the sides to each other and figure out which cap goes to which rod, but as far as knowing hat hole they came out of, there really is no way to tell. The numbers indicate the bore size of the connecting rod.
The only thing I can tell you is, maybe you can measure each crank journal and each rod bore with a micrometer. It may not be exact, but you wont get the number 2 rod on a 3 journal. When you measure the rods make sure the bearings are lined up and the cap bolts are torqued to 23 lb/ft.
Do this at your own risk.
