I have been unable to find a manual for 98 forester

Car: Subaru, Forester, 1998     -    Back to Fix-It    -    Subaru Repair Manuals

Q.I have been unable to find a manual for 98 foresters but have one for legacys the engine appears to be the same but when I try to locate the ECT sensor on the coolant pipe under the intake manifold I am unable to is the location on the forester different than the legacy and if so where is it also aproximently how long at idle speed should the engine run before the cooling fan comes on.

Answer HI there! It is in the same location on the forester as the legacy.
As for how long until the cooling fans come on, this is based solely on engine temp, or if the defrost or A/C is on. If the defrost or A/C is on, the fans will come on automatically even if the engine is cool. It is #3 in this diagram and is buried in there. Has a brown connector, not sure if that will help or not.
