PO401 code - an egr problem exists.
Car: Acura, CL, 1999, 3.0 - Back to Fix-It - Acura Repair Manuals
Q.I have an Acura 1999 CL that gives me a PO401 code that says an egr problem exists. I have replaced the egr with a new one and the code keeps coming back after I erase it. Does the car have carbon build up in the intake and if so is there a cleaner I can use that I can put in the egr hole that will fix the problem. If not what is the fix?
I already checked/done: replaced egr valve and erased the code several times and it comes back after a couple of days of driving.
Answer That code is due to carbon build up in the ports. The intake manifold needs to be removed and a kit installed. Click on the link.
