I get a high pitched whine which seems to come from the back

Q.I have a Honda Crx 1993 reg. When I switch on the ignition (but before I start the car) I get a high pitched whine which seems to come from the back interior. The car is not moving and the engine is not runnig so I don't know where to lookk for the fault.
Answer If the high pitched whine sounds as if it coming from the center underneath area of the car for about 3-5 seconds, this is normal. The noise you are hearing is coming from the fuel pump priming itself readying itself to start the engine. You will be unable to get the whine to go away unless you disconnect the fuel pump, main relay or fuse that powers those items. You may want to check with another Honda owner to turn the key to the ON or II position & listen for a whining noise from the area I had mentioned from above. Any other questions, please let me know.
