Trany problems

Car: Subaru, Legacy, 2006, 2.5     -    Back to Fix-It    -    Subaru Legacy Repair Manuals

Q.I have a 2005 subaru outback 2.5 with auto transmission, 75K. new transmission was replaced by dealer at 24K due to trany problems. 3 years later it is slipping again. will go in reverse and slowly but surely will go into first but very very slow response. tends to jerk after warming up when taking off from stopped position and coming to a stop shifting from 2nd to 1st. Oil level is good and no smell or burning with trans oil.

I was told that sometimes resetting the trans will fix subaru slipps?

I already checked/done: only research and called a few trany mechanics.

Answer Yes, they can try to perform a relearn on the transmission. This will also remove any air bubbles that may be trapped in the transmission valve body. You do have to get this done at the dealership, however it may be worth the trip and save you some money. Hope this helps!
