growling noise coming from the blower area

Car: Honda, Pilot, 2003, V6     -    Back to Fix-It    -    Honda Repair Manuals

Q.I have a 2003 Honda Pilot EX-L. When I turn on the blower for fresh air or AC there is a low growling noise coming from the blower area.
It gets louder as I turn the air speed higher. Air flow is fine, just do not like the noise. I just replaced the cabin air filter and cleaned out that box but that did not correct the problem.
I think I need to get into the blower motor housing and clean it out. I know its behind the glove box but how do I take the motor out and clean it out?

Answer There are no good step by step instructions I can upload. I will try to walk you through, step by step.
The blower motor is dirctly under the glove box.
You will need to remove the sill plate on the drivers side which just pulls off.
You will then need to remove the kick panel cover, it has one retainer by the firewall and one on the side. Remove the black retainer and then just pull the trim panel away from the sidewall.
There is then just one connector and 3 screws holding the blower motor up. Once it is out you may find a leaf or 2 in the fan cage that is causing the motor to unbalanced causing the noise.
