Timing belt worn-off within a week

Car: Honda, CRX Si, 1987     -    Back to Fix-It    -    Honda CRX Si Repair Manuals

Q.Have owned a 1987 Honda CRX SI for the past 8 years. Recently changed water pump and timing belt, a/c compressor belt, alternator belt. Alternator belt was worn out within one week. Changed pulley on crank with another pully otained from a 1986 Honda CRX SI from junkyard. Within a few days the new alternator belt broke. Installed a rebuilt alternator and another new alternator belt it broke in two days. Please help me. New a/c compressor belt has never broken.

I already checked/done: Changed pully, changed alternator, changed alternator belts several times, but belt just keeps breaking

Answer I will check with my Honda parts man to see if the crank pulleys are interchangeable. Check to make sure you have the alternator aligned with the rest of the engine. You should be able to visually look at the alternator and see if it looks crooked. I believe there is a bushing you have to reinstall in order to properlly align the alternator. It sounds like the alignment of the alternator is the issue.
