Car is overheating after 12 to 15 minutes of running.

Q.1993 Acura Legend with 160K miles is overheating after 12 to 15 minutes of running. When I drive foward the temperature gauge goes back to normal. When it idles, it runs 3/4 of the way to red.
Replaced thermostat, radiator, and pump. My fans seem to be running slow.

Answer If the fans seem to be running slow, it is possible that you might have worn fan motors. I have replaced several of them.
One thing that I see almost like clockwork on the Legend are head gasket issues. It would take a compression/leakdown test to determine, but I have seen this numerous times. Just replaced a set about 2 weeks ago on the same kind of car.
You first need to determine if the cooling fan is turning on when the vehicle reaches around 1/2 way on the gauge. I assume it is since you mentioned the speed of the fans. If they are too slow, replace the motors for sure. If the problem still exists, a compression/lea.. >> login for more
