i turn the lights off but the rear lights on the car stay on

Q.i turn the lights off but the rear lights on the car stay on. ran my battery down. whats the problem.
Answer Ok the most common problems are the headlight switch or the taillights control unit on the inside of trunk on the tailights or a shorted socket if there is water in the tailights it's causing the lights to short out these are the most common issues.
