My brake lights don't work when I stepped on the brake pedal

Car: Honda, Accord, 2004     -    Back to Fix-It    -    Honda Accord Repair Manuals

Q.My brake lights on my 2004 Honda Accord Coupe doesn't work when I stepped on the brake pedal but the 3rd brake light on the Spoiler does work. The Hazard lights work so the bulbs are alright and the fuses check out good. Some say that the break light switch could go bad but if that was the case then the 3rd brake light would not work right? Any help please!

Answer When the two normal brake lamps are out and the 3rd brake lamp is operational..you most likely have a faulty turn signal switch on the steering column.
The brake lamp siganl for the two lower lamps goes thruough this switch before getting to the lamps. The 3rd brake lamp signal is separate. You need to use a voltmeter to correctly test the turn signal switch..
