Would a low alternator output cause the car to start up and then die?

Q.I have a 1990 Honda CRX with after market ignition system by MSD. My question is would a low alternator output cause the car to start up and then die out like if the fuel was cut off.
Answer Low alternator output can cause stalling and various other divability problems. If you know you have low output, I would certainly address that problem first.
A very common problem with Hondas is a failure of what's refered to as the Main Relay. This relay under the dash and turns power on to the various fuel injection systems and most impotantly, the fuel pump. A failure of this part can cause no-start conditions, poor acceleration, and stalling. One way to check is to hook a fuel pressure guage to the outlet on top of the fuel filter. If you start the car and then the pressure drops, I would definitly start to point fing.. >> login for more
