2010 subaru door mirror

Q.The mirror head popped off, the lower part still attached to door, does the whole mirror need to be replaced or can the mirror be disassembeled and repaired? There are various parts listed that seem to indicate repair is possible, but no instructions on how to take the mirror apart,For instance, the painted front portion of the mirror can be bought seperately, but how to take the old one off?
