Idling rough
Car: Volvo, 240, 1989 - Back to Fix-It - Volvo Repair Manuals
Q.1989 volvo 240. Rough idle; smoke from exhaust; diag codes show for air mass meter and oxygen sensor.
Which is most likely bad? Is there any way to check w/o buying both parts which are expensive and not returnable to parts store? Car running worse each day, need help. No volvo mech. in my area other than dealer.
I already checked/done: changed fuel filter. had tune-up. had codes confirmed by a local mechanic. changed air filter.
AnswerI have a feeling that it is the mass air flow sensor causing this. Try disconnecting it and see if that helps. If it does, I would replace the mass air flow sensor.
If you get me the codes it would help.
