2011 Honda Civic DX-VP - Gas Mileage tests
Main Review Page - Review Posts
Having enough with all Honda runarounds I have decided to test run a highway MPG. Out of 275 miles on a tank I drove 200+ on the highway on May 23, 2011 and ended-up with 26.25 MPG.
I called Honda after that (800-999-1009 option 7).
They were surely very nice to me explaining that I have to see dealer's service department and have my car checked. I said I did and have paperwork and reference number.
Basically Honda is willing to do.. NOTHING!
When I asked if they should change the sticker MPGs on the window from 25 by 36 to 24 by 27 they have said that those numbers are based on calculated MPG.
Based upon www.fueleconomy.gov sticker fuel economy reflects "typical" driving conditions and driver behavior.
On my highway test I did not do anything that will increase fuel consumption. Sometimes I was driving at 70-75 MpH but on average according to speed limits posted.
Did not do any super-fast accelerations.
According to my estimates I should've got at least 30 MPG on that trip.
Where I live we do not have too many traffic lights and I never stuck in traffic. So even city MPG should'n apply to me, meaning my MPGs should be safely floating above 30 MPG.
Yet, my brand new Civic never got MPG anywhere near advertised numbers.
If I knew in advance - I'd probably went with Toyota or KIA.
