Timing belt recomended change
Car: Acura, TL, 2002, 3.2 - Back to Fix-It - Acura TL Repair Manuals
Q.Timing belt recomended change on a 2002 acura tls, I am told a bad timing belt can throw a rod and there is no way to check wear without significant labor. Is this true, or will there be some warning as the belt goes bad. Cash is tight, thanks.
I already checked/done: talked with service centers, timing belt change strongly recommended stating severe engine damage without warning if it goes bad
Answer OK, if the timing belt breaks, it won't throw a rod.. but will be just as (if not more) expensive to fix. It will bend valves, and the engine will not have any compression. It is supposed to be changed at anywhere between 60,000 and 105,000 miles.
If you want to have a look at it.. it is not that bad. Here is the instructions:
But for now.. If it dies on you, expect to need a valve job.
