Manual transmission started to rev way too high regardless of the gear.

Q.My 2000 Subaru outback manual transmission started to rev way too high regardless of the gear I was in about two weeks ago. I didn''t drive it for a week over the holidays and it''s way worse now. It revs way too high (4000 rpm or so) each time I step on the gas (regardless of gear) and I don''t get much power to accellerate. I had a diagnostic done and the computer didn''t give any indication of what might be causing it.

Answer Check for vaccum leaks.
Usually in the case of an engine running to high it an indication of unmetered air getting into the system. This causes the O2 sensor to see a lean mixture and try to compensate by adding more fuel to the misxture, thus causing the high rev condition. Hope this helps! Thanks.
