It is more difficult to switch from park to drive than normal
Car: Honda, Accord, 2004 - Back to Fix-It - Honda Accord Repair Manuals
Q.It is more difficult to switch from park to drive than normal (it is a automatic transmission) What is causing this? I have read that it could be the brake lamp lights being out, but I don't think that is the case with mine. The car is a 2004 Honda Accord 4 cylinder. I've never had any problems with the transmission before. It is only sticking slightly for now.
Answer Sometimes the brake light switch can fail intermittantly and then the shifter lock will not function. The computer must see a signal that the brake is pressed to unlock the shifter and allow you to shift out of park.
If you have someone look at the brake lights and press the pedal repeatedly until the shifter stick, if the brake lights are not on, thats the problem.
