Rough running motor

Q.i have a 97 Acura integra with 1.8. here lately when i start it in the morning it runs very rough for about 5- 10 second then staightens out. Also its been doing this for awhile lets say you leave a stop sign takes off fine, if you have the gas pedal in a certain position the car will loose power, but if i push on the gas pedal a little harder it takes off, its like a dead spot.
More Info required is the check engien light on?
