Transmission or not?

Car: Acura, TL, 2000     -    Back to Fix-It    -    Acura TL Repair Manuals

Q.I have a 2000 Acura 3.2 TL. Twice in the last week it has "bucked" like a horse when I accelerate, once when I was going about 35 mph and once going about 55 mph. The mechanic says the transmission will have to be rebuilt, but this is not what I want to hear. How much should the rebuilt transmission cost, split into parts and labor (Maryland) and is this the best solution? Can I try something less drastic first? Thanks. Oh, and I just drove the car after moving the shift thing back and forth and sideways between all the gears, and then tried to get it to buck and it wouldn't. I figured, what the hell, it's getting rebuilt anyway. But it wouldn't buck this time, and it felt different driving, although I may have imagined it.

Answer This is the tell tail signs of a internal transmission failure have you checked the transmission fluid yet is the fluid burnt? Does the d5 light flash or the check engine/vsa come on? A rebuilt transmission from Acura with a 3 year 36 k mileage warranty will run you around 3500.00 their is not any transmission shop that can match this warranty plus the transmissions have all been updated and the transmission shops are able to fix these problems unless they replace the entire cases and known failed parts.
