Q.I HAVE A 1999 SUBARU LEGACY OUTBACK THAT HAS A LONG DELAY GOING INTO DRIVE. IT IS WORSE THE WARMER IT GETS. IT GOES INTO REVERSE JUST AS IT IS SUPPOSED TO. ONCE IN GEAR IT WORKS FINE. WHAT IS CAUSING IT AND HOW CAN I REPAIR IT?

I already checked/done: TRANSMISSION FLUSH.

Answer How long is the delay?
I found a tsb describing a delay in movement when shifting into drive. I will send a copy along at the end. Have you checked to see if there are any codes in the TCM (Transmission Control Module)? If the TSB does not explain the problem you will need to check transmission hydralic line pressure rto see if the pressure is normal, high or low. Low line pressure can cause this concern. Here are possibilities Control Valve, Low Clutch, Duty Solenoid A, Sealing Ring and/or Faulty Gasket. Here is the Time Lag Test mentioned in the TSB.
