Temperature control issue
Car: Toyota, Corolla, 1996 - Back to Fix-It - Toyota Repair Manuals
Q.I have a 1996 Toyota Corolla, there seems to be an issue with the temperature control - in that the sliding switch has limited range of motion - it will go all the way from hot to just below "warm" and that's the end of the range of motion. I am trying to figure out just how challenging of a repair this might be and if it is something I can tackle myself - I'm handy if there are clear instructions, but I don't have much experience on car repair other than relatively non-intrusive fixes. Also was wondering if I don't tackle this myself, how costly of a repair could it be?

This sounds like the cable or the heat valve is out of adjustment.
This is how the cables are adjusted, please let me know if you have any questions about the procedure
A/C CONTROL CABLES ADJUSTMENT
1. Set A/C Control Levers In These Conditions:
Air inlet control lever RECIRC, position
Mode control lever "DEF", position
Temperature control lever COOL position

2. Adjust Air In Let Damper Control Cable
Set the air inlet damper on RECIRC" position, and install the control cable and lock the clamp.
