Q.I have a 1992 acura legend Ls sedan and have had it with the motor.
Unfortunately I''ve had to put another moter in the car. I drove it around for less than 4 weeks and the engine turned out bad. Now i''m doin my research and tring to understand why so many 1991-1992 legends have the overheating/bad headgasket problem. Basically my question is am i better off doing the upgrade to a type II motor for the car or shall i continue to look around for a good type I that seems to be prone to over heating issues??

Answer Acura Legend 3.2 is very precise in repair order, but if done correctly they are a perfect automobile.
The cooling system is a critical part of engine life. The 2 stage cooling fan operation is the most important, with proper radiator flow and you must use an Acura radiator cap. I have seen multiple problems with coolant systems that the cap would leak at 2 psi.
Acura cooling system pressure warmed up is 14 psi. I would stay with the same engine, but make sure the cooling system is operating properly, ie. Fan operation, radiator flow and cap release values. Aftermarket parts are cheaper, but their performance in no match.. >> login for more
