The car will not idle. It starts 1st time, but when dies.

Q.Hi, I bought an Audi A3 in December 2008. To date there has been no problem. Yesterday after work a problem occured. The car will not idle. It starts 1st time, but when dies. Once in gear and i rev it, It drives 100%, but if I stop, the enjine dies. I also shifted my gears into neutral while driving and left the petrol, but the car also dies. Help? What is wrong?
Answer You need to go under the bonnet inti the engine area and check, whilst the engine is running ideally ( so be careful of your clothes..and get someone to keep the engine running as slow as it will for you ) and you are looking for any hissing noises etc... looking for any split small pipes or perished pipes or pipes that may have come off.
Any such things will induct too much air into the engine when it shouldn't -and will cause your car not to idle as it should. Rectify anything that you find.
After that - if northing at all is found at fault - then your most likely problem will be a faulty ISCV - or Idle Speed control val.. >> login for more
