I need to replace the oil pan on my Civic

Car: Honda, Civic EX, 1999, 4 Cyl     -    Back to Fix-It    -    Honda Civic EX Repair Manuals

Q.1999 Honda Civic EX 2Dr manual 5 spd tranny. Need to replace the oil pan. What parts need to be removed to get the oil pan off? I have heard that the exhaust pipe is in the way. Others have said that there is a stiffener that needs to be dropped.
Does the exhaust need to removed?

Answer The exhaust does need to be lowered. You can unbolt it from the exhaust manifold and bracket at the back of the motor. You will then be able to lower it enough to have room to get the oil pan off.
the stiffener you were told about is at the rear of the pan and it also needs to be removed.
