1994 honda Civic Oil pan removal

Q.Helping my son replace the oil pan gasket on his Honda, lowered the exhaust, took out all the bolts, cant get the oil pan to drop???? any suggestions?
Note: there is an item on the backside of the pan (not a 10mm pan bolt) looks like a tap plug of some sort, with lined head in the center does anyone know if and how that needs to be removed?
