DTC Troubleshooting: P0801 (33-2)
DTC P0801: Problem in Inhibitor Solenoid Circuit
For KB, KE, KG, and KQ Models
NOTE:
- Record all freeze data and review General Troubleshooting Information before you troubleshoot.
- The illustration shows the example of connector terminal arrangement; connector terminal arrangement varies with the models.
1.Disconnect inhibitor solenoid connector.
2.Measure the resistance between connector terminals at the solenoid connector.

Is the resistance 17.1-21.0 W?
YES - Go to 3.
NO - Replace the inhibitor solenoid.n
3.Disconnect PCM connector C (22P).
4.Check for continuity between PCM connector terminal C6 and body ground.

Is there continuity?
YES - Repair short in the wire between PCM connector terminal C6 and inhibitor solenoid connector.n
NO - Go to 5.
5.Connect inhibitor solenoid connector.
6.Disconnect PCM connector A (31P).
7.Measure the resistance between PCM connector terminals C6 and A4 or A5.

Is the resistance 17.1-21.0 W?
YES - Update the PCM if it does not have the latest software, or substitute a known-good PCM, then recheck. If the symptom/indication goes away with a known-good PCM, replace the original PCM.n
NO - Go to 8.
8.Disconnect inhibitor solenoid connector.
9.Check for continuity between PCM connector terminal C6 and inhibitor solenoid connector terminal No. 2.

Is there continuity?
YES - Repair open in the wire between inhibitor solenoid connector terminal No. 1 and ground (G101), or repair poor ground (G101).n
NO - Repair open in the wire between PCM connector terminal C6 and inhibitor solenoid connector.n
