DTC Troubleshooting: P0132 (1)

DTC P0132: Primary HO2S (Sensor 1) Circuit High Voltage


1.Turn the ignition switch ON (II).

2.Do the DTC CLEAR in the CLEAR MENU with the HDS.

3.Start the engine. Hold the engine speed at 3,000 rpm (min-1) with no load (in neutral) until the radiator fan comes on, then let it idle.

4.Check the O2S in the DATA LIST with the HDS at the engine speed 3,000 rpm (min-1).

Does the voltage stay at 1.0 V or more?


YES - Go to 5.


NO - Intermittent failure, system is OK at this time.Check for poor connections or loose terminals at the primary HO2S (Sensor 1) and the ECM.n


5.Turn the ignition switch OFF.

6.Disconnect the primary HO2S (Sensor 1) 4P connector.

7.Connect the primary HO2S (Sensor 1) 4P connector terminals No. 1 and No. 2 with a jumper wire.

8.Turn the ignition switch ON (II).

9.Check the O2S in the DATA LIST with the HDS.

Does the voltage stay at 1.0 V or more?


YES - Go to 10.


NO - Go to 16.


10.Turn the ignition switch OFF, and wait 10 seconds.

11.Connect the ECM test harness and the test pin box to the wire harness only, not to the ECM.

12.Check for continuity between test pin box terminals No. 61 and No. 76.

Is there continuity?


YES - Go to 24.


NO - Go to 13.


13.Remove the jumper wire from the primary HO2S (Sensor 1).

14.Connect the primary HO2S (Sensor 1) 4P connector terminal No. 1 to body ground with a jumper wire.

15.Check for continuity between test pin box terminal No. 76 and body ground.

Is there continuity?


YES - Repair open in the wire between the ECM connector No. 3 terminal No. 32 (test pin box terminal No. 61) and the primary HO2S (Sensor 1), then go to 18.


NO - Repair open in the wire between the ECM connector No. 3 terminal No. 47 (test pin box terminal No. 76) and the primary HO2S (Sensor 1), then go to 18.


16.Turn the ignition switch OFF.

Replace the primary HO2S (Sensor 1).

18.Reconnect all connectors.

19.Turn the ignition switch ON (II).

20.Do the ECM RESET in the CLEAR MENU with the HDS.

21.Do the ETCS learn procedure.

22.Start the engine. Hold the engine speed at 3,000 rpm (min-1) with no load (in neutral) until the radiator fan comes on, then let it idle.

23.Check for Temporary DTCs or DTCs in the DTCs MENU with the HDS.

Are any Temporary DTCs or DTCs indicated?


YES - If DTC P0132 is indicated, check for poor connections or loose terminals at the primary HO2S (Sensor 1) and the ECM, then go to 1. If any other Temporary DTCs or DTCs are indicated, go to the indicated DTC troubleshooting.


NO - Troubleshooting is complete.n

24.Substitute a known-good ECM.

25.Start the engine. Hold the engine speed at 3,000 rpm (min-1) with no load (in neutral) until the radiator fan comes on, then let it idle.

26.Check for Temporary DTCs or DTCs in the DTCs MENU with the HDS.

Are any Temporary DTCs or DTCs indicated?


YES - If DTC P0132 is indicated, check for poor connections or loose terminals at the primary HO2S (Sensor 1) and the ECM, then go to 1. If any other Temporary DTCs or DTCs are indicated, go to the indicated DTC troubleshooting.


NO - Replace the original ECM.n
